10 Secrets Of Self Confidence

“When You Speak From Your Heart And Say The Words Your Soul Has Only Dared to Whisper, That’s When Miracles Happen.” ~ Unknown

In Order To Be Self Confident, You Must:
1) Have A Vision Of A Better YOU. If you have the desire to improve your confidence, then start seeing yourself as the person you want to be. It is your responsibility to achieve your dreams. Use your imagination to come up with the optimal dream image of yourself. Be bold and creative. The limits are up to you. Don’t short change yourself by coming up with a only a slightly better version of you. Go for it!
2) Set Standards That Push You To Be More Than What You’ve Been. If you will be hard on yourself then life will be easier on you. If you live your life so as to avoid anything uncomfortable, your life will be much harder. Set a bar for yourself that excites you and fills your mind and heart with enthusiasm.

“Today I Will Do What Others Won’t, So Tomorrow I Can Accomplish What Others Can’t.” ~ Jerry Rice

3) Be Bold And Take Positive Risks. Sit up front. Raise your hand. Speak up. Walk with your shoulders held back. Don’t let fear hold you back. Being shy and insecure is no way to live. Life will pass you by and you could miss out on the reason you are here to begin with. Live your life with purpose.

“Freedom Lies In Being Bold.” ~ Robert Frost

4) Have Strong Role Models. Your confidence is often a reflection of your peer group. Associate with people who are goal directed and future oriented. Seek examples of people who are living their life the way you’d like to live. Look around you and if you don’t have any role models that suit you, then look to people from your community, history, fictitious characters from books and television. Pay attention to the things they do and think. Don’t put a lot of energy into trying to figure out the secrets to building confidence all by yourself. The secrets are all around you.

“As For Worrying About What Other People Might Think – Forget About It. They Aren’t Concerned About You. They Are Too Busy Worrying About What You And Other People Think Of Them.” ~ Michael le Boeuf

5) Be Solution Oriented. Confident people focus their attention on looking for ways to overcome obstacles. You may be surrounded by problems at the present moment but hold your head up and look for answers. Don’t be an excuse maker. Every problem carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit. Look at your problems as challenges that carry with them the opportunities to make your life better.

6) Not Be Afraid To Fail. It is embarrassing to fall flat on your face. No one likes to make mistakes. I would rather you fail than to never try at all. Not knowing what you could have done is worse than failing. Failure occurs only when you give up.

“No Great Performance Ever Came From Holding Back.” ~ Don Greene

7) Give Up The Need For The External Validation Of Others. Do you care too much about what others think of you? To not care at all is a bad attitude, but do you care to a point that you no longer focus on your goal? It is nice to receive praise and the approval of others but when you give up the need for praise and approval you will feel a weight being lifted off of you. Confidence is born from within.

8) Be Willing To Do What Most People Won’t. Confident people get up earlier and stay later. They aren’t afraid to sweat or to rack their brain. They’ll go to school. They’ll go to the gym. They ask for help. Whatever is necessary to help build them into the person they want to be.

“Today I Will Do What Others Won’t, So Tomorrow I Can Accomplish What Others Can’t.” ~ Jerry Rice

9) Be Bigger Than Their Emotions. Do not let your feelings dictate what you do. Whenever you start the road toward self-improvement, you will experience frustration, aggravation, hurt, sadness and fear to name a few. Unless you get this point, you may never accomplish anything. Be careful because your feelings will lie to you. They will fill you with doubt and tell you to give up.

“We Either Make Ourselves Miserable Or We Make Ourselves Strong. The Amount Of Work Is The Same.” ~ Carlos Castaneda

10) Not Be Afraid To Go Against The Grain. Confidence building requires that you think for yourself and make decisions that may not be popular or understood. Don’t follow the path of the average. If you always do what they do, you will end up where they are.

“Nothing Great Has Ever Been Achieved Except By Those Who Dared Believe That Something Inside Them Was Superior To Circumstances.” ~ Bruce Barton
